Shooting the Messenger

Shooting the messenger took on a whole new meaning in Colorado when a process server was beaten to death with a baseball bat when he served divorce paper and a restraining order. On Friday James Whitler made his first court room appearance on a first-degree murder charge and two counts of attempted first-degree murder for allegedly trying to strangle his children. Now I could understand process servers being avoided or being on the receiving end of a few expletives but I never thought serving divorce papers was a dangerous job. Was this a once off or is violence against process servers a regular occurrence here in the UK too?
